Greetings!
I am Eugene, a year two student in Temasek Polytechnic's Diploma in Veterinary Technology. As my course of study may show, I love animals.
I am the owner of a cockatiel, an ex-owner of varying types of animals, such as hamsters, dogs, terrapins, fishes, birds, hermit crabs and three cats.
I am an avid lover of watersports like windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and swimming. I also used to do horse riding.

As a kid, I wanted to be a veterinarian. Growing up, I knew my passion is in animals.

What is Guided Learning?
It is a module where students, like myself, use self-directed learning in an area of interest.
The SDL process consists of 4 stages: Plan, Perform, Monitor and Reflect. We have the opportunity to plan our project, refine and execute it as wells as reflect on and monitor its development. This blog is to document my learning process and show you what I have been doing. The project will increase and more profound our knowledge and skills.

My Project
My project is on the development of outreach & education material for pet owners through brochures on vaccination.

In Singapore, there are vaccination guidelines for pet shops and breeders to abide by before the dog or cat can be sold. However, after the pets return home, many owners are not informed of the vaccination boosters that their pets may need.
Vaccinations can prevent vaccine-preventable disease that can be very detrimental to the health of pets and cause death.
​
This project aims to produce brochures for pet owners to bring home and read, increasing the awareness of such vaccines.
​
A Learning Facilitator guides my learning. The project was overseen by mentors, from the Authority for Veterinary Services and Singapore Veterinary Association.
